According to Wikipedia, onomastics or onomatology is the study of proper names of all kinds including the origins of names. On the other hand, anthroponomastics or anthroponymy is a branch of onomastics. It’s the study of ‘anthroponyms’ – from the Greek words anthropos, ‘man’, + onoma, ‘name’ – combined together it means ‘the names of human beings’. There are 22,300 names in the database including its meaning and origin. That’s a lot of names, isn’t it?
